a) Fat should be lost not muscle weight: There are diets, which will give you results, in terms of rapid weight loss. But, on a close analysis of the results, you will find that most of the time, you will be losing muscle weight, rather than fat tissues which make up your extra pounds. The goal of any diet, should be to make to you lose the fat mass rather than muscle weight, as muscles are required for smooth functioning of the body.

b) Sustainable Results: To measure the success of any diet, results should be measured on the long term basis, rather than short one. Do you know that most of the times, initial weight loss is attributable to the water weight.

c) Lost Weight should not come back: Most of the time, when you lose weight under a specific diet, more often or not, it comes back. The main reason is that when you follow a diet, you have to follow it’s instructions and also eat certain type of foods, to lose the weight. However, when you quit the system, you are not following the eating habits as was dictated by your diet. In the process, your old eating habits return and you regain the weight. Other reason is that when you follow a diet for a certain length of time, the body becomes used to it and does not respond to the diet effectively as it did earlier.

Any ways good diet should teach the dieter, the healthy ways of eating, so that even though the person leaves the diet, He is still able to maintain the weight.

d) Lose Weight Healthy Way: There are many diets, which get you results, but at the cost of your health. Therefore, before choosing any diet, one should assess there respective side effects. In addition, if the diet dictates consumption of calories way below your average daily intake, it is advisable that it is carried out under the supervision of a doctor.

e) Weight Loss without starvation. It is common belief, that to lose weight you have to eat less. What people have to understand is that it is quality eating, that they have to focus on rather than the quantum of it.

See, most of the times eating less will not work, because our body is very smart. When you lower your calorie intake, our body starts disposing equivalent amount of calories you intake. Therefore, nullifying the effect of eating less.
