The Advantages Of Buying Individual Health Insurance For Your Health Needs

March 2, 2010 by Peter Skonctue

It is not uncommon in the United States for people to have health coverage with their job. However, many Americans do not have that option. The only thing they can do is consider buying individual health insurance. In some cases, having insurance with your job, is not the most cost efficient way to go.

The Kaiser Family Foundation says that the average cost of an individual health plan through the company you work for is $779 for an individual and $3,515 for a family. These prices are a calculated average so it stands to reason that many employees are paying more than that each year.

Before you purchase this type of insurance, it is best to shop around and compare the prices and coverage of several different health insurance companies. There are non-profit sites that ask you approximately five questions about your family and then give you a list of the companies in your state that have plans that will meet your or your family’s health needs. The list normally includes the websites and phone numbers for each company.

Thirteen thousand five hundred dollars is what the average cost for family coverage is per year. The smaller companies, especially, are passing most of that cost on to their employees. Because of that, it might be more cost efficient for a worker to choose a private health plan.

The cost of health coverage depends on what part of the country the person lives in. For example, a person who lives in or near New York City will most likely not be able to find an individual plan that is less expensive than his company plan. If that same person lives in the state of Ohio, he might be able save several hundred dollars a month on an individual plan.

It is important for a worker to consider several benefits that a company plan offers before he decides to change to an individual plan. There are several things that would not be included in an individual plan.

In a company plan, you and all of your co-workers must be accepted for insurance coverage regardless of any health problems you may have. Your health insurance cannot be canceled if you become sick. If the worker is laid off his job, according to law, he has the option of purchasing an extension on his health insurance from the company for at least eighteen months.

The company is required by law to waive the waiting period on a new employee if he was covered by insurance in his other job for a longer period than the time of the waiting period. For an example, if an employee worked fifteen months for another company and was covered by their company insurance, and the waiting period at his new job is nine months, then the waiting period is canceled and his entire insurance coverage is effective immediately.

If you decide to switch from your company’s health insurance to a private insurance plan, do not cancel your company insurance until you are certain that you have been accepted by the new company. Private insurers are very particular about previous health problems and waiting periods. It is not uncommon for them to refuse to insure an individual for a number of reasons.

As with any type of insurance, comparing different companies and the policies that they offer is the smartest thing to do. Make sure you understand exactly what the policy covers and what it doesn’t cover. By doing these two things, you will be able to make the best decision concerning your family’s health needs.

Find your cheap health insurance plan today. Buying individual health insurance should not be something you put off for long. Head online today and shop!

Energy Efficient Sauna Heaters In The Future

What would you use sauna heaters for? Sauna heaters are great for relaxing muscles and joints. Many people use them to rid the body of toxins. Some use it for an overall body and mind therapy. This was one way the sauna was used in an animated series King of the Hill.

On the program a new age native American has a sauna set up where he charges people to enter the sauna and allow the steam to release the toxins from the body and the mind. As the men are in the sauna sweating they all start having dreams or even hallucinations.

One man sees how he thinks he is going to die, riding a motorcycle through a giant donut. The steam has shown him his weakness for food will be his end. The sauna steam show one man, a pest exterminator, dying at the hands of a large insect. The other man is simply at peace at his job in his hallucination selling propane grills.

His mind is clear and there are no toxins to drive out by the steam and heat. The old man in the sauna heaters is a World War II vet who killed many enemies in the war. His guilt comes back to haunt him as he sweats in the sauna. He sees the men he killed in the war as he hallucinates. He runs out of the sauna blaming his son, the propane grill salesman, for taking him into the sauna.

Whether you want to experience a body and mind cleansing is up to you. But a sauna is a great way to sweat and to relax. You can install a wood burning sauna if you have a lot of wood to burn. Many people like the wood burning type because they are more traditional. You do have to keep them clean though as the ashes build up the more your use it.

Also if you want to control the temperature you will have to look for another source of heat. The modern gas sauna, heated by natural gas, is an option for those who want a cleaner burning sauna. You can also control the temperature of the sauna. You can also save money on your gas bill by installing an electric sauna. This is also a clean option and you can also control the temperature using the thermostat.

It will be interesting to see if solar panel saunas are a thing of the future or if they will be developed to efficiently in our homes of the present. If power can be collected by the energy of the sun and then used to heat our home sauna then it will be a great energy saver.

With all the talk of going green this would be a great option. It would save money on your energy bill and if the right combination of a sauna and solar energy can be developed everyone might have in their home a way to relax the body and even the mind.

Pain relief and detoxification are among the health benefits of saunas. Shop for energy efficient sauna heaters now at affordable prices. Relax your mind and body by investing in a wide variety of sauna equipment, including outdoor saunas and infrared saunas.

One of the best home treatments is an oatmeal mask that you can make at home. This is a good mask to apply at least twice a week. You simple cook the oatmeal and let it cool slightly then apply directly to your face. Once it’s dry, rinse off. Some people like to use dry oatmeal as a facial scrub to clear off the dead skin and clean the pores.

Being outside in the sun is also great for acne and it doesn’t cost a cent. You need to be sure that you are not taking any medications that will make you sensitive to sunlight. The sun helps to kill the bacteria which produce acne and it helps to dry up oily skin.

If you suffer with oily skin then you may want to try some lemon juice on your face. You can simply put some lemon juice on a cotton ball and wipe your face with it. It will help to absorb the excess oil and dry up your skin.

You do not want to do this if your skin is already dry as it can cause more irritation. Taking vitamins can also help with acne as well. Vitamins E and A are best and you can get them in a multi vitamin.

You should also wash your face twice a day, but without soap. Add in the consumption of plenty of water and fruits or vegetables and you’ll notice a difference.

What it comes down to is in order to learn how to get rid of acne, it doesn’t always mean you have to take prescription medication. Just ask a dermatologist, because they’ll tell you the same thing. We always recommend seeking a medical professional when you want to get rid of acne.

What happens when we come under stress? Our body’s natural reactions take over. Our breathing is increased as well as our heart rate. Learn To Stay Healthy With A Periodic Colon Cleanse

Body detoxification is an important factor to living health. Keeping your system clean of toxins and poisons that build up over time is the key to maintaining optimal health. This all starts in the colon or digestive tract where most toxins build up and over time are released in the bloodstream to other parts of the body.

How do toxins enter the body? We are all susceptible to toxins and harmful foreign particles in the air that we breathe. The environment in which we live is infested with harmful pollutants such as carbon emissions and cigarette smoke that eventually make their way into our body. Contamination is inevitable.

Pesticides and other harmful chemicals used to treat bugs and rodents often find there way into our digestive tract through the foods we eat. When you combine that with the numerous additives and food preservers used in the process of food, it is easy to see how these poisons and chemicals enter the body.

If chemicals remain in the colon for too long, they will soon slip into the bloodstream and find their way to the kidneys, liver and other vital organs. This can be very dangerous and can lead to serious illness.

When the body retains toxins, the immune system, which is responsible for protecting you will eventually break down making your more susceptible to life threatening diseases. This is why it is critically important to safely clean and detoxify the colon on a regular basis.

Many have likened the colon to a waste processing plant in a major city. If something malfunctions within the plant causing it to shut down, then an entire city’s population is at risk for drinking contaminated water. The colon works the same way keeping you safe.

How can you tell if you require a colon cleanse? There several signs to look for. The most common is feeling like you don’t have any energy or strength. This is very typical of a toxic digestive tract. Stomach cramps accompanied with long term bloating can be another signal.

People suffering with high levels of toxicity often report felling low on energy all the time for no apparent reason. Some people become more susceptible to colds and flu or experience outbreaks of allergic reactions.

So how do you keep your colon clean? It is very simple and safe and it can be performed with a simple over-the-counter product in the comfort of your home.

The most recommended cleansers are a potent blend of natural herbs and spices. They are extremely effective. Other ways include drinking large amounts of water over time.

Here are 15 healthy positive coping skill exercises you should incorporate as habits in your life for relieving stress. Print them out and then post them in an area you will see while having a stressful episode.

Go to the list and read them one-by-one until you find the one that will work for you. These are healthy alternatives to the hurtful behavior we use to cope. These 15 habits of coping will redirect your mind from the crisis you are in at the moment.

Coping With Depression-Anxiety

1. Change your surroundings. Go for a long walk at the mall, on walking trails or at the park.

2. Turn on some happy, feel good music to uplift your spirits. Avoid using angry music, since it will compound any negative feelings you are trying to overcome.

3. Get some support. Call, text or email a supportive family member or friend. Make sure they are supportive, since there are times when family or friends may think they are helpful, when actually they cause us even more feelings that are hurtful. Find that person you can trust and talk with them.

4. Hold your own laugh fest, by collecting your most funny movies on DVD or video and then watch them until you do feel better.

5. Treat yourself to something special. When you are feeling down, treat yourself to something that will make you feel better. Perhaps, something that takes you to happier time.

6. Take yourself out to lunch or invite a friend to go with you. I use to invite one of my best friends to breakfast. It was nice, because she was my one true friend I could trust and who I looked to for support. We always had a good visit.

7. Play a board or card game with yourself or a friend/family member. Even a computer game can be fun! This will help direct your mind away from what is upsetting you.

8. Read a novel or other great non-therapy book. Take a break for reading therapy books. Allow a good book to transport you to another place and time while you read. You have permission to take a therapy break when you need it.

9. Get you feelings out by journaling or drawing. This is an all time favorite of many individuals. You can write anything you feel or the experiences you are going through. You can choose to keep it private or you may want to share it in therapy. Drawing is a great release. You may want to get your own color crayons or pencils to work with.

10. Enjoy the unconditional love of a pet. Play with your pet or sit with them and feel the love. Take your dog for a walk, pet your cat and listen to it purr. You can even watch fish and gain serenity and peace.

11. Go for a relaxing bike ride on a riding trail. Most of the trails are hidden away from the roads and can transport you to another world. Enjoy the sights and sounds of nature!

12. Join a gym. Not only can this help you with changing your surroundings, but it would be doing something good for yourself. Exercise is excellent for depression and anxiety!

13. Do some volunteer work at your local hospital or nursing home. You will be useful as well as have the opportunity to help others. Volunteering always feels good!

14. Join a support group, either locally or online. You might try this to see how it works for you, some individuals become overwhelmed. You must be the judge for this suggestion. You may want to try it, however listen to your inner voice as to whether it is a good idea for you personally.

15. Do a puzzle by yourself or with a friend or family member. Puzzles can be so much fun. You can choose a little one you can finish in one sitting or a larger one that you can come back to later.

When you feel overwhelmed by negative thoughts and feelings, you will find that these coping skills exercises can be most beneficial to you. Print this out and then pencil in any of your ideas for coping with stress. Remember to post them somewhere that you will see them when you are experiencing a hard time, as they can be very resourceful for you.

Are you ashamed and self-conscious by your stretch marks? Do you go out of your way to keep away from wearing swimsuits or any revealing clothing because you’re anxious people will see them and silently critic you? Well, hey, you’re not alone! 8 out of 10 women undergo from ugly, disfiguring stretch marks, and lots of men do too. If you’ve been in any of the following situations, then you possibly have some stretch marks.

A good candidate for the tummy tuck procedure is an adult who is not far from his or her ideal body weight, with an abdominal area that has not adequately responded to modification by diet and exercise.

How effective and efficient is surgery in treating stretch marks? One has to really know in depth about the method of surgery before deciding to under go surgery for the stretch mark elimination. It is better to consult a medical practitioner or a skin specialist to decide upon the surgery. When we talk about the surgical means to remove the stretch marks, there is a grand range of surgery which is suitable for different individuals.

Not all the surgical methods can be followed for all. Unfortunately, one thing has to be stated clearly here: it is known that even the surgical means can not prove cent percent stretch mark relief, though this method can give a better cure as compared with the other alternative cosmetic methods. In the tummy tuck method of surgery, the excess skin and fat under the skin would be removed leaving behind a perfect figure for you to wink at.

Tummy tuck surgery does, however, provide the patient with many benefits, including improved appearance and, in many cases, an elevated level of self confidence. While this could work in theory, there are several things a person has to consider about plastic surgery to remove stretch marks before making a commitment to go under the knife.

People often times think that because the operation is cosmetic in nature it is a less serious form of surgery, however this is not the case. All complications associated with major procedures can occur with plastic surgery as well, including infection and probable death from the incorrect use of anesthesia.

Massage Chairs Help to Treat Lower Back Pain

May 28, 2009 by Steve Esquire

Do you ever get back pain in your lower back? We depend so much on our back that sometimes we take it for granted. Statistics tell us that 80% of the population is affected by low back pain at some point in their lifetime. It is estimated that over $50 billion is spent every year in the treatment of lower back pain. Most reported back pain is due to job related injuries. There are many treatments for lower back pain including surgery and natural therapeutic methods. One interesting method being employed is with the use of massage chairs.

What is lower back pain? Lower back pain can be either acute or chronic. Acute is a short term problem lasting a few days to a few weeks. Chronic back pain can last weeks or months. Some forms are progressive and can go on for years.

There are two schools of thought on treatments which are blending together more and more. The blending of Eastern medicine and Western medicine has increased the options available. This is very good for patients as now they have more natural therapies as options as well. Although in certain situations surgery may be the only option.

Lower back pain is most often treated by Doctors of Osteopath or Doctors of Chiropractic medicine. These are both specialists in musculoskeletal problems. Doctors of Osteopath are experts on joints whereas Doctors of Chiropractic medicine are experts in spinal health. Either can treat lower back pain.

Some conditions such as degenerated disc disease or back injuries can be of a more chronic problem. These types of conditions can cause scar tissue which makes the soft tissues more brittle. In these situations the soft tissues need to be stimulated and stretched. Some of these more chronic conditions have been where massage chairs have been used to help improve the flexibility of these harder muscles.

In most situations where the soft tissue has sufficient strength (i.e. not damaged from an injury) massage chairs are used to help increase the flexibility of the soft tissues. Normally, your spine will evenly distribute your weight across the spinal column. Lower back pain is the result of a concentration of force or uneven distribution of weight on the lumbar region.

This concentration of force can happen because of poor posture, incorrect sitting position, or improper lifting techniques. This makes a few of the muscles, tendons and ligaments take the majority of the weight which causes them to become fatigued. This will lead to increased stiffness and eventually pain.

The focus of a natural treatment to a healthy spine is to help it redistribute the weight back across the spine. The pain is stemming from a concentration of force on a particular muscle group. These muscles become fatigued and stiff. A natural treatment seeks to improve the elasticity of the muscles. Massage chairs help to soothe and relax muscles as well as stretch them out.

There are quite a variety of treatments available in many massage chair models. Massage chairs have replicated many different massage techniques which are available at the touch of a button. Many massage chairs also have stretching of the lower body and the upper body. Also, you can find heating elements built into massage chairs for applying heat to muscles throughout the body.

You can use massage chairs to warm you up prior to stretching or exercise. They are also perfect for your warm down after activities. They offer enormous convenience and flexibility to your schedule. A quick 10 minute massage after a stressful day can be very relieving. You should check with your physician to find out what options may be appropriate for you. Ask your physician if a massage chair for radio in home use may be appropriate for your situation.

What Makes Me Like Pulling My Hair Out?

May 18, 2009 by Cari Webbe

‘Why am I always pulling my hair out?’ is an extremely common question. Whether you pull your hair from your scalp, eyebrows, eyelashes or any other part of the body you probably wonder why most other people don’t do it. Is it just you? Are you normal?

You are, in fact, normal. There are hundreds, thousands, of other people who are also asking themselves the question ‘why am I always pulling my hair out?’. The truth is that it is down to a little known disorder that’s called trichotillomania.

What Is Trichotillomania?

I suffer from this disorder myself, and had never heard to word trichotillomania for years. It sounds scary, but all it really means is that you pull out your hair compulsively. This means that it is almost like a habit, but you will also do it at times without realising, making it very hard to stop.

What Causes People to Pull Out Their Hair?

There are so many potential causes, and nobody has a definitive answer. In my case I always had something inside of me that made me want to twiddle with my hair, which later developed into pulling around the age of 10. This is different for everyone.

Some of the other causes of hair pulling include: your diet, OCD, childhood trauma, ADHD, maybe even genetics!

If you pull out your hair then you might never even find out why it is that you started. It will also probably take you a little while to come to terms with it, so relax and don’t frantically search for a cure if it’s too difficult.

Getting Support

It might be the case that you need to give yourself a little time before you seek support. When I was ready, I started to chat with people in online forums, and even started writing about how I felt in a blog. I can’t tell you how much this has helped me – though I’m still not ready to talk to people about it in real life.

Make sure you move at your own pace, and slowly you will come to accept trichotillomania as part of who you are.

The Most Important Thing To Remember? You are not alone and there are thousands of others like you – asking themselves ‘why am I always pulling my hair out?!’. The only reason you haven’t heard about them is because they like to cover it up, just like you probably do as well.
