Eliminating Body Hairs Using Common Methods

These days, a woman can’t just raise her hands without being sure her underarm is hairless. Smiling isn’t enough as well, she also has to remove any shade of moustache on her upper lip. And if you believe she wears sleeveless shirts and mini skirts on her relaxed days, think once again. Most probably, she didn’t wake up and just put on those garments at once. She still needed to shave or wax her arms and legs.

While getting rid of hair is very normal for the women, some “macho” guys also take off their unwanted hair on the body. While the ladies won’t lift an eyebrow upon seeing a hairy man, they likely will not be eager to introduce themselves to him too. Some men think that cutting or getting rid of their face and body hair is more attractive to ladies. It can also be that they find being hairless more comfortable and hygienic than being covered with their own hair.

Getting rid of excess hair is a practice that dates back to the ancient times. What advantages or aesthetic purposes they got in hair removal then is still true today.

Those who wish to remove outcast facial and body hairs can choose either to depilate or epilate. Depilating is the removal of the hair from above the skin surface, while epilating is getting rid of the whole hair from root to tip.

In depilating, the most common methods are shaving, trimming, and applying creams that break the protein bonds of the hair, ripping it from above the skin. There are those who also use friction to buff away hair. Common epilating methods include waxing, sugaring, plucking, and threading. And while these techniques are admittedly more painful, hair will take longer to grow back.

There are also permanent methods of hair removal and reduction. The first is electrolysis, the process of taking the hair off by applying electricity to a solid hair-thin metal probe slid into every hair follicle. This does localized damage to the parts that produce hair, therefore permanently removing hair.

Permanent hair reduction processes include the popular laser and IPL. Laser hair removal utilizes laser to damage follicles, rendering it incapable to generate hair. IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, uses light of various wavelengths to remove hair. It is also used to heal different skin problems, including hyperpigmentation.

Each technique differs on effectiveness, price, convenience, and the length of time the hair grows back. As each has its own pros and cons, always take extra care each time you use any of the aforementioned methods.

Dr. Komathy offers acne clearing among many others. Other aesthetic concerns such as breast augmentation is also available at The Lifestyle Clinic.

Female Facial Hair: Do You Know The Six Removal Methods?

Why does female facial hair cause concern? Number one for many women is embarrassment. Having unwanted body hair on the upper lip or chin can make them feel awkward. In extreme cases it can lead to a lack of self-confidence. With others their feelings of femininity are affected.

So let’s get started in our brief overview of female facial hair removal methods by examining the two methods generally considered to be permanent – electrolysis and laser hair removal.

Number 1: Reckoned by some to be the only truly permanent hair removal method, electrolysis uses heat to disable the mechanism of hair growth. Each hair follicle is treated separately so it can be a long laborious process. Surprisingly, some even then report that stray hairs can reappear.

Number 2: There seems to be a greater variation of viewpoint when it comes to the results of laser hair removal. Some find it works very well for them, others spend lots of time and money and end up disappointed. Make sure you go to a professional and you will of course want to see evidence of successful treatments. Testimonials from others are helpful and some clinics maintain a photo library showing before and after shots to give you some idea. It is essential to get a test done before signing up for treatments.

Number 3: Waxing and Sugaring. These are probably the most popular of all the methods. They are inexpensive and can be done easily in your own bathroom. Simply applying wax or a sugaring solution to the area to be treated and sharply pulling back removes the hair.

Hot wax or pre-coated cold wax strips stick to the skin and pull the hair out along with the top layer of dead skin cells when sharply pulled back. Sugar solutions stick to the hair, not the skin, so they generally don’t have such a harsh effect on the skin. However, after a waxing session the skin can feel very smooth due to the dead skin cells being removed during the procedure.

Number 4: Hair inhibitors. In the early 1990′s these solutions appeared on the market and now there is quite a variety to choose from. They may not work for everyone so testing is important and make sure there is a money back guarantee so you can try it without risk. The solution is rubbed into the skin after a hair removal session such as waxing or sugaring, or tweezing, methods which take the hair out by the root. The enzymes in the solution then go about disabling the hair growth mechanism.

Vaniqa is perhaps the most famous hair inhibitor. It comes as a prescription cream which is rubbed into the skin twice a day. As with all hair inhibitors, results are seen after two or three months.

Number 5: Depilatories were not recommended for the facial areas at one time due to the strong chemicals they contain and the possibility of adverse skin reactions. These days however there are depilatory products on the market especially designed for a woman’s facial areas and they contain ingredients to lessen the trauma on the skin. The chemicals in the depilatory melt the hair so it can be wiped off.

Number 6: Tweezers and Epilators. Get yourself a good magnification mirror and a top quality pair of tweezers and simple grab each hair firmly and pull out by the root. This method obviously is for the women with a minor problem in this area or for handling the isolated facial hair. Electrical epilators are also popular and some double up for use on the body and face. Special settings can be used for facial hair. As with any method that pulls hair out by the root, pain is a factor. Use a numbing spray beforehand or follow up right afterward with an ice cube to calm down protesting nerve endings!

From the above overview, it can readily be seen that there is no perfect, ideal solution for the problem of female facial hair. Each one has its pros and cons. You need to evaluate your own need when it comes to expense, pain toleration, convenience, etc. and decide which will suit you the best. Many women would generally agree however that the effort is worth it. Having hairless facial areas gives them confidence and freedom to relax and enjoy all kinds of social occasions without any feelings of embarrassment.
