The Connection Between Headaches and Weight Gain

Awhile back, a client who suffered migraines wrote to me. She explained that in addition to the painful headaches, she had also gained a great deal of weight over the past couple of years.
Putting on that much weight in that amount of time is rather considerable and worth exploring any connections. I also felt it important to understand if she had been suffering from any other health concerns or using medications.
She explained that during that two year timeframe, she had been prescribed several different medications. She also continued to gain weight.
This really was not that much of a surprise as most migraine medicines include the unwelcome side effect of weight gain. Additionally, a number of drugs include weight gain as a side effect for conditions from despression to high blood pressure.
Rebound headaches can even accompany the very drugs prescribed to treat migraines.
An increase in weight may also appear as the result of how we react to the migraines i.e. a less physical lifestyle. People may tend to avoid exercise in order to avoid certain migraine triggers such as light, loud noises, certain smells, and air pressure changes.
Making things even harder to sort out is determining which issue may have created the other. Yes, medications may carry the side effect of weight gain. On the other hand, obesity may have led to the migraines.
I absolutely endorse natural therapies for a number of health problems including weight control and mirgraines. However, if you currently take prescribed medication, do not suddenly stop – at least not without discussing your plan with your doctor. Taking certain medicines then discontinuing suddenly can lead to serious, even life-threatening, results.
The results of my Weight Loss Breeze and Migraine and Headache Relief Programs have been phenominal. Both are completely natural and include special breathing and relaxation exercises with fast results.
